Definitely Need a Vacation from My Vacation
I’ve been staycationing this week, and between a few fun movies and playing with a sweet doggo, I have been getting shit done around here. Especially shit that’s needed doing for some time. Wiz Manor has not exactly been sparking joy for me lately, but hanging out at home and TCB is making me happier again.
This calls for a celebration!
And as we head into the U.S. Labor Day weekend, I’ve got a great pick for hanging out and barbecuing. From the Finger Lakes, it’s Bully Hill Vineyard’s Meat Market.
Bully Hill, located on the amusingly shaped Keuka Lake, was my first ever stop on my first trip to the famed New York region. They make a lot of sweet and fruity wines — my parents love their Sweet Walter line — but they also produce some terrific dry ones too. Meat Market bridges that gap, with juicy cherry flavor but still dry enough to pair with a meal. I’ve been keeping this in my wee wine fridge at 48ºF, and the first sip was super bright and cheerful. You may want to keep this a little more chilled.
This wine totally wants to hang out with your burgers this holiday. At prices ranging from $7 to $10 depending on your location, you can’t beat this for a party wine. It’s a little tough to find outside of New York State. I think I found this one in Trader Joe’s, who love a good inexpensive wine. Toss a couple bottles in your beach tote or in the back of your camper, and have a great weekend!
