Dishing Up Some Sangiovese
I made a pretty yummy and relatively healthy dinner of smoked salmon, Brussels sprouts, and couscous. (Thanks again, Hungryroot!) We’ve got a smoky oily fish and nicely bitter sprouts. What’s a good pairing here?
I dove into my most recent Wine Access club shipment, and hello! This 2018 Tenute Loacker Valdifalco Morellino di Scansano DOCG appeared!
Morellino di Scansano is a wine appellation in southern Tuscany. Morellino is the dialect name for the local clone of Sangiovese, the country’s most widely planted grape.
Great black cherry color, and also on the palate. It’s more rustic than refined. I don’t know if this was the ideal pairing with my dinner, but they definitely played nicely together. A more beefy or mushroomy pasta dish would work great.
Eat well, drink well, see you next week!
