In Case You Want to Stock Up on Wine For Some Reason...
Well.
That was a week, huh?
With the Ides of March coming on Sunday.
There’s absolutely no way this can go wrong.
So if for whatever reason you can’t get down to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for this all to blow over, I’ve got some suggestions for more value wines that I tasted at the Wonderful World of Wines in Lambertville, NJ a couple weeks ago.
Two of the wines are produced by Bieler Wines, a company based in France with substantial holdings in the U.S. I enjoyed this 2018 Cotes du Rhone blend, classic berry, not too soft, would go with just about any food you manage to find at the rapidly depleting grocery store.
Also enjoyed this 2017 Born to Run Cabernet Sauvignon! It’s a blend of cab sauv from both the Lodi region of California, and Columbia Valley from Washington. The result is a fresh and clean wine that won’t weigh you down and is perfect for casual sipping. Would go with pretty much anything.
But for me, the star of the show was 2014 Starmont Pinot Noir. Normally retails for about $25, on special that week at WWoW for just $12.99!
It hails from the Carneros region of California, a cooler climate region perfectly suited to pinot noir. I get a lot of black raspberries on this, and excellent texture. If you can find it for less than $20, I highly recommend picking one (or two, or three!) up. Even if you can find for less than $25, you’re not going to do much better for quality pinot at that price point.
That’s some of what I’ll be drinking while hunkered in the bunker. What have you got going on? Let me know!
