Pitter Patter, Pitter Patter
Constant Readers, it finally happened.
I met a guy.
Everyone, say hello to Johnny!
Johnny is an almost two-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier, whom I’m fostering from the EASEL Animal Rescue League right here in Ewing, NJ. We’re calling it “fostering” until I’m sure this is a good fit for both of us. He’s only been here a week, but I think we’re getting along pretty well.
To celebrate (just me, not him, he’s not old enough to drink), I thought I’d open up something a little special, 2014 Hermann J. Wiemer Reserve Dry Riesling.
I bought this on my October 2016 trip to the Finger Lakes. Hermann J. Wiemer specializes in riesling, the signature grape of the area. I’ve written about Wiemer here before, and you all know I’ve written plenty about Finger Lakes riesling before.
This is an off-dry riesling, with bold apricot fruit and a round mouthfeel. The acid isn’t sharp, but this is lush. Perfect for spicy Indian or Thai food. If you love Kabinett-style German rieslings, this is for you. My cohort did take a little sniff, but didn’t show any interest. But I’ve seen some of the stuff he tries to eat on our walks, so I wouldn’t put much credence in his palate.
You can check out more Johnny pics on my personal Instagram, and if you’re looking to foster or adopt a new snuggle buddy of your own, check out EASEL’s website.
Cheers to you and all your fur kids, from us at Wiz Manor!
