The Only Skin Contact I Want In A Heat Wave
I don’t know what I’m enjoying the most about watching the Women’s World Cup. Some of the world’s best athletes from all over the globe in competition. Joy like Sarina Bolden scoring the Philippines‘ first ever goal! Or the fact that it’s winter Down Under, temps are in the 50s° and 60s° F, and people on the sidelines are wearing puffy coats.
It’s a magical world where women’s sports get top billing and people are actually chilly. Dammit, that’s quality television.
Here in New Jersey of course we’re in the midst of another heat wave with triple-digit temps on the way. So I’m staying indoors and finding cool things to sip.
Like this rosé for instance. Wait, it’s not a rosé! We’re back in Italy with pinot grigio, but it’s got this pretty pinkish tint to it. What gives?
This is 2022 Attems Pinot Grigio Ramato. Ramato is its own kind of wine, traditionally made with Pinot Grigio grapes from Friuli-Venezia Giulia in Italy. It’s a skin-contact wine, leaving the grayish skins briefly in with the juice after pressing.
The nose is restrained. I get a little slightly unripe strawberry and a bit of green tea on the palate. This would be great with fruit and fresh cheese, or a little cold salmon. An excellent aperitif too. I like it!
Do your best to stay cool, and I’ll do the same from here!
