Y’all.

Y’all.

I’m in love.

Head over heels.

With the new reclaimed wood desk I bought via Etsy! (Here’s their shop website.)

I mean, look at this beast.

It’s beat up. It’s chonky. It’s steel. The UPS guy feared it. It took three people (thanks, Ma and Pa!) just to hold it up to put it together.

I love it.

Look at all the room for activities!

This calls for a celebration!

I dug deep in ye olde cellar for this one, 2012 Tenuta Guado al Tasso (Antinori) Bolgheri Il Bruciato. (The 2012 is hard to find anymore, but here’s some other more recent vintages.)

Bolgheri is a town in central Tuscany, near the Etruscan coast. This wine is a Super Tuscan, which doesn’t mean it wears a cape, just that it’s a blend of grapes that originate outside of Italy. In this case, predominantly cabernet, merlot, and syrah.

The color is dark reddish purple, and just starting to turn brick red, due to its age. The nose is dark black fruit and a little green, but old green, not fresh and new.

The finish is a little sharp and short, which also may be due to age and lack of perfectly temperature controlled storage. The fruit has mellowed out to just an overwhelming feeling of dark.

Which totally goes with my beautiful Zombie Woodworks desk.

This might be one of my favorite purchases for the house yet! I hope to share more excellent photos of wine on this gorgeous surface.

Any new and exciting developments in your life? Drop me a line and let me know!

(PS, it’s“The Wood Song” by the Indigo Girls.)

Love the desk - and love Guado al Tasso. Don’t believe I’ve ever had Bruciato. Any other vintages of it available?
