Wine in the Time of Coronavirus. Or Something.
Luckily this week's wines came to me this week. Last Saturday the 14th was probably my last supper club for quite some time. Luckily I can absolutely recommend both of these wines not just because they happened to be in my house!
2018 Ascencion Malbec is a juicy and fresh Argentinean malbec, not overly complex and bright with black cherry. I really liked La Ciboise Costières de Nîmes 2017 from M. Chapoutier, with brambly blackberry on the palate and earthy foresty notes on the nose.
I feel like I should say more, and be all cheerful and we’ll get through this and “Keep Calm, Drink Decent Wine,” but honestly, I’m tired. It’s been a weird week of shifting my work responsibilities and sitting at my desk looking at a computer screen for hours on end. Also I learned that mixing wine with an anxiety attack is a very not good idea! Because then you’re still anxious and buzzed and more anxious that if you had to go somewhere you can't because you're buzzed. So I don't recommend that.
So all I can say is, just because it's a global pandemic, please don't drink white zinfandel. We haven't fallen that far yet.
Stay well.
