Dare I Say It?
I almost felt a little silly thinking it Thursday morning, but Friday morning for sure, I knew it to be so.
Say it with me, friends.
The weather was… fall-like.
Yessssssssss.
I mean, let’s temper our enthusiasm somewhat, because today’s highs are still going to be in the mid-80s°F in my area. But it’s coming! And with cooler nights, wine grapes will start doing what they do and getting ready to be harvested. So we should all be grateful.
This calls for a celebration!
My friend and sometime Constant Reader S. came over after work Thursday night. We got dinner from this awesome Mexican place near my house. And we were actually able to eat outside without feeling like we were going to drown in the humidity!
We had a lot of different flavors going on, so I decided to try my 2021 Turley White Zinfandel. I cringe a little at calling it that, but hey. It’s a rosé made from zinfandel grapes, so that’s what it is!
This rosé has big bold fruit. I got watermelon and other red berry on the palate. And it had enough acidity to pair nicely with our guac and chips. (Great guac, great chips.) Sorry I didn’t take any pictures, because we were too busy eating and drinking! But I love the gorgeous salmon pink of this wine. I’m so glad I bought a bunch of these when they became available. I’ve been storing it at 48°F; I might want it a teeny bit cooler but not too much so it doesn’t dampen this great berry fruit.
So hang on, East Coasters. Relief is on the way!
